The last picture I had significant breakage along my hair line. I was frustrated because I loved haircare, it was my number 1 hobby. When I finally decided to transition it was scary at first, but once I studied about transitioning it became easier with time. Here are a few pictures of my transition to natural:
I created mini-transition goals to motivate myself to keep going, it was difficult at times because I was pregnant and very tired. Whenever I reached 7 weeks I would buy a new hair product or reward myself with something else. I noticed that the more I got further along the more excited I became seeing how much natural texture grew. Here are some close pictures of my texture. I found out that my hair was 4b and 4c:
I was determined to do a long term transition for two years, but after the birth of my son, I wanted to big chop. I was 14 months when I big chopped and I was surprised at the how soft, bouncy and beautiful my hair was without the relaxed ends. It felt like I had more confidence, I finished at 2am, but felt like I could stay up all night. Here is a big chop picture:
I wasn't too sure about it at first, but as I learned how to style it, I became happier:-) My goal for this blog is to show you and others that we can grow our natural hair to great lengths. My ultimate goal is waist length that is a long time from now, 2-3 years. My mother is my inspiration because she had long hair that was waist length when I was young. So I know genetically I can do it, but I have to do my part by nuturing my hair with patience as the years go by. I have short term goals each year. This year it will be to grow my hair from neck length to shoulder length. Whatever your goal is even if it isn't the same as mine, is still important too me. So please feel free to leave comments.
