My Shea Moisture Hair Color Experience

Last night I tried the Shea Moisture Color System in Light Brown and I love the results. I will have more detail about my review and demo on my hair channel. I'm just summarizing my experience last night. The whole process was fairly easy. The pros were there wasn't a strong scent, my hair is soft and moisturized, and the hair color solution detangled my hair as I applied it. The cons were the gloves coul have been thicker, one of my gloves riped, if you have thick hair you may need two color kits, I ran out so next time I will buy two. Other than that I will be using this product again. Sorry this post is so short I'm a busy mom, but check out my video later today😃

Shea Moisture Curl and Shine Review

Last night I tried the Shea Moisture Curl and Shine Shampoo. For it to be a sulfate free it had so much later, and detangled very easily. I put my hair in 3 sections and rinsed with warm water then I applied some shampoo in my hand then massaged it into my scalp. I really liked how creamy it was, and the smell was soft. I also have the moisture retention shampoo and that one is more creamy compared to the curl and shine shampoo. I like them both a lot. My hair felt soft and my curls were very defined. I applied the curl milk as my leave-in some eco styler for a slick ponytail. If you want to hear about the ingredients check out my video on my hair channel.

My Hairstyles I've achieved with my blownout hair

I must admit it was quite a shock getting use to my straight hair. I miss my kinky, coily hair but figured why not take advantage of my straightened tresses and style my hair. It's funny how without my shrinkage my hair easily fits in the styles below.

Celebrating African American Women and their Hairstyles❤

Last night, I thought of a great idea to re-create the hairstyles of talented African American women. Yes, I know black history month is over, but I would like to break tradition and celebrate African American women sharing a little bit about their lives and recreating their hairstyles. This will be an ongoing project for me throughout the year. Here are some of the women I've done so far, check out my instagram page to read about their lives.

My Blown-out Braid out style❤

Since my hair is stretched and straight I thought it would be nice to wear a fluffy braid out. When I thought of this hair style I thought of Tracee Ellis Ross so I didn't want a super defined braid out. I braided 4 braids in the front and 6 in the back with Karen Body Beautiful Love Butter. I didn't braid all the way down, but two strand twisted the ends. I left the braids in overnight and took down each braid the next day.Afterwards, I applied an oil to my hair. I didn't unravel too much because I wanted it to look like a loose braidout. Here are the results, it sure did feel good to have my hair out of a protective style.

My 2nd Blowout and attempted flatiron experience❤

I've coined a new term if it hasn't already been used called a "flat-out" this simply means when flatironed natural hair turns into a blowout.lol that's what happened to me midway. So I deep conditioned on dry hair, cowashed my hair the day before and let it airdry overnight. In the morning I let it dry some more and applied my jbco, then later that night which is last night I blew it out by sections, I applied a heat protection Creme before and after. Then I proceeded to flatiron my hair. Midway my hair reverted back to a blowout, I was upset but happy at how much my hair has grown. I will definitely try again next time. With a better flatiron, smoothing cream, more snacks, my tea and music.

My 2013 Favorite Natural Hair Products

After searching and through trial and error I'm so happy I have found the right products for my hair. I will be adding more to this list as the year progresses.

1. For prepoos, detangles great and get my hair ready for co-washing/shampooing later sometimes I add honey and evoo.
2. For bi-weekly deep conditioning hair treats I've been using this, and my hair loves it so much, I apply it on dry/wet hair, it detangles very well, and of course smells heavenly. I use it bi-weekly because I co-wash weekly. I use this when I shampoo my hair, and also because its expensive too.
3.Whenever I'm wearing a slick down look, or just my edges I use this with a leave-in before I apply it, I use to use the yellow/blue but I prefer now a stronger hold so I'm using this and I also like that it has olive oil in it too.
4. For my weekly scalp, growing my hair edges back in since postpartum hair shedding I've been a faith user of this.
5. When I'm doing twist-outs, braid out, I use this.
6. Daily Spritzing and Refreshing I use this with water, withand evco.
7. Light moisturizing and styling I use this, my hair loves it:-)
8. For my weekly co-washes I use this, it gives a great slip allowing me to detangle with my fingers
9. For sealing my ends and also braid-outs I've been using this for over a year now:-)
10. When I shampoo my hair I use this, it smells so good and detangles very good
11. And finally for my light protein treatments I use this, this stuff is the truth. And yes it has sulfates but Im not sulfate sensitive.
12. For detangling I use this or
I will update more favorites throughout the year but so far this are my must-haves

As I am Coconut Cowash Cleansing Conditioner Success!

Last night, I tried the As I am coconut Cowash cleansing conditioner and it was a success! The first time I tried it two weeks ago I rushed through it and decided to retry it again just to give my honest review. Well, let me tell you how happy I was. I took time to rinse my hair with warm water first before applying the Cowash. I used 6 sections instead of 4 sections, and as I applied it I finger detangled it then two strand twisted it. Once I was done I rinsed my hair and kept the twist in since I already detangled it. My hair was very soft and smell was good. I let it airdry overnight, and here is a picture below

My Jamaican Black Castor Oil Growth

This month started out on a positive note I have been using Jamaican black castor oil for my edges due to postpartum shedding and for my hair too. This is the beginning of my 3rd month castor oil Challenge I was initially going to wait until the end of this month but decided to show my results so far. I'm very happy with the results and think I could surpass my hair goal for this year.I will update again in June to see how my hair is growing.
